Miles away from the rush of cities...
Chagala spent his childhood days in his village. Village air, water, food and love from parents and relatives made his life enjoyable. Chagala used to love to listen ghost stories. Grandparents or elderly people used to tell many stories to kids, ghost story was one among those. While telling the ghost stories, the elderly people used to mimic some sounds made by animals so that the thrill will be there.
Chagala was too much afraid of ghosts. He was afraid to come out of the house even at 8PM.
Years passed, Chagala completed his degree and got the job in the accounts section of a company in a remote village. Chagala took a house for rent near the office area. The office was around 2km from his rented house. So he preffered to walk to office daily. While returning from office, it used to around midnight 12AM or morning 2AM as he was in the accounts section. The fear of night and ghost was always there in Chagala's mind. But Chagala gradually became habituated to the office timings and the fear factor was not that much.
One night...
While returning from office, Chagala heard some paauji (anklet) sound from behind like chhan chhan chhan...
Chagala started walking faster and didnt dare to look back. The paauji sound also got heard faster as if someone is chasing him. Chagala told "Jai Hanuman" and started running faster, entered his house and thanked God.
Few days passed. One time, the similar sounds of paauji were heard. Chagala thought to have some courage and look back. When he turned his head back, he saw a lady with white saree. There was no open hair and candle in the hands of the lady like movies. But the white saree was enough to make Chagala moreeeeee afraid. He started running in such a faster pace that even Usain bolt may not compete with him. In front of his house, he fell down and became unconscious. The house owner ran to the spot, sprinkled water on his face and Chagala got consciousness.
Next day, Chagala took leave from office as he got some minor injuries. To a surprise, the white saree lady came to his house and told "Don't worry. We are new here, just staying in front of your house and I am not a ghost.😊". Chagala asked "Why are you wearing white saree, even now too?" The girl replied "I am a nurse". And she added that she also gets late while returning from hospital and she is afraid of stray dogs, and so if someone is there, she try to walk along with them. While leaving, she told to Chagala "Please take care. By the way, I am Chhaya".
The last statement "By the way, I am Chhaya" created some maya on Chagala's heart. Chagala's office and Chhaya's hospital were somewhat nearby. If late in night, Chagala and Chhaya started walking together to home. In one festival, Chagala visited Chhaya's home where he met her brother, sister, parents and her joint family.
Chagala and Chhaya's love story continued like this. One night, Chagala was waiting for Chhaya while returning from office but Chhaya didn't come. Next day also...
Chagala went to her home and found that the door is locked. Chagala asked the caretaker about Chhaya and the caretaker told "Who? No one is staying here from last 15 years!" Chagala became unconscious after hearing this. Chagala's house owner came there, made him conscious and he also told the same story that no one stayed there for last 15 years.

The story doesn't end here like other ghost stories.
Chagala's ghost-fear increased so much that it made his life miserable.
After few months, while in the village market to get some vegetables, Chagala saw Chhaya. He ran and tried to talk to her but she avoided and started walking faster. Chagala still ran after her. Suddenly Chagala saw Chhaya's whole family there and her uncle hit him with a stick and fell unconscious. While getting unconscious he heard some gun shots though.
Some locals helped him to go to hospital and then his home. While going through the newspaper next day, he found that some crime happened yesterday in the village market area and it was executed by Chhaya and her family. It was shocking for Chagala and he never knew the reason behind that.
From that day, Chagala's ghost-fear is completely gone as he came to understand that many things are manufactured by the brainy humans.
