OdiaTweeples and their effort in Twitter!!!

Social media users from Odisha used to upload some Odisha related videos in youtube,  write some blogs on Odisha, post in Facebook/Twitter etc..
But this work was at individual level.

But with time, some fellows gradually gathered on Twitter.
It was the month of March 2014, there was a message "Lets celebrate #PakhalaDibasa" on 20th March on twitter as it is the day when the temperature rises due to summer season.
(Pakhala is an Odia dish made of rice and water. You can add some curd to it.
Pakhala can be taken with fish fry, mixture, potato fry etc. Pakhala Dibasa means Pakhala Day).
Slowly more number of tweeples started motivating each other for trending #PakhalaDibasa.
On the 20th March morning, #OdiaTweeples started tweeting about Pakhala with some good pics and the foundation was put for twitter trends.
Some nice blogs were also written on Pakhala.

Then the time was for celebrating the Odisha state formation day on 01April.
The hastag was #UtkalaDibasa (Utkala means Odisha and Dibasa means day).
Now the number tweeples increased and so #UtkalaDibasa trended in twitter.

During this time, someone suggested why not we celebrate #RasagolaDibasa!
What is Rasagola Dibasa? Is it Rasagola Day?
And answer is YES.
So the discussion among the tweeples continued.
This year(2015), there was Nabakalebara festivals of Prabhu Jagannatha, Prabhu
Balabhadra and Maa Subhadra.
So the Odisha tourism department did the promotion in a much better level through hoardings, ads and social media as well.
And the hashtag was #NakalebaraRathaJatra.
It was a huge trend in twitter and the reach to the people was high.

The last day of RathaJatra is celebrated as #NiladriBije when Lord Jagannatha returns back to Sri Mandira and offers Rasagola to Maa Lakshmi.
So the tweeples came to a consensus to trend #RasagolaDibasa on 30th July.
#RasagolaDibasa trended top in twitter.
The story did not end here.
Media talked to the Rasagola vendors at Pahala Odisha to decorate the shops and celebrated the Rasagola Dibasa there. There was a Rasagola fair arranged in Bhubaneswar as well and the vendors made a good bussiness that day. The discussion which started in twitter, created a good business for the Rasagola vendors in Odisha. And after that Odisha gov has applied to the GI(Goegraphical Indication) for getting GI tag for Rasagola as it was originated in Odisha. A mission accomplished. :)

The the number of tweeples started getting more and got involed in the Odisha related trends which was a positive news.
People started discussing what are upcoming festivals, birthday of freedom fighters etc.
For every trend, there need to be a hashtag.
For coming to a consensus, tweeples started doing voting so the tag be selected on the vote.
And going through this process, multiples hashtags got trended:
#RajaParba
#NuakhaiJuhar
#Bhagabata #ଭାଗବତ
#UtkalaMani #ଗୋପବନ୍ଧୁ
#DurgaPujaInOdisha
#OdishaPattachitra
#IncredibleChilika
#KalingaBuddha
#BaliJatra(#BoitaBandana, #KartikaPurnima, #Kalinga)
#Konark(#Konarka)
#DhanuJatra

These hashtags contain varieties of information about #Odisha.
If someone uses internet, then the person can now very well know about the history, geography, food, culture and festivals of Odisha.

Cheers
Ashish
