This blog contains the Odia names of different objects, food, fruits, vegetables, flowers etc.

1) ଢିଙ୍କି (DHinki): The ancient machine used for getting rice out of paddy.

    ସମା (SamA): The top portion of the machine which hits the paddy

2) ଖଡ଼ିକା ମୁଠା (Khadika Mutha): Used for sweeping the floor. It is made of the sticks taken from coconut leaves.

3) ଛାଞ୍ଚୁଣୀ ମୁଠା (ChhaanchuNi Mutha): Used for sweeping the floor.

4) କୁଲା (KulA): When the paddy is crushed by the DHinki, then Kula is used to separate the husk from the rice.

5) ଘଣା (GhaNA): The ancient machine used to extract oil from seeds

6) ଚକି (Chaki - चकि): The ancient machine used for grinding the food grains 

7) ଖମ୍ବ ଆଳୁ (Khamba AaLu)/ ଦେଶୀ ଆଳୁ (Deshi AaLu) - Yams:

8) ଆଳୁ(AaLu) / ବିଲାତି ଆଳୁ (BilAti AaLu) - Potato: Mostly known as ଆଳୁ(AaLu). But the exact name is ବିଲାତି ଆଳୁ (BilAti AaLu - Britain Potato) as it was brought by British to India.

9)  ବାଇଗଣ (BAigaNa) - Brinjal:

10) ଟମାଟ (TamAta) / ବିଲାତି ବାଇଗଣ (BilAti BAigaNa) - Tomato: Mostly known as ଟମାଟ(TamAta). But the exact name is ବିଲାତି ବାଇଗଣ (BilAti BAigaNa - Britain Brinjal) as it was brought by British to India.

How to develop our(Odisha) Tourism sector?

---What WE(CITIZENS) need to do?---

1) We(internet users) need to join the tourism blogging sites like TeamBHP or BCMTouring etc and start blogging on the places we have visited or the craft mela/festivals happening in Odisha.

And I am sure I can attract some tourists through my blogs.
We have 30 districts in Odisha and we need some bloggers from each districts who can do this job about the places in their district which has tourism potential.
Then we need to share the blogs and pics in social media like facebook, twitter etc and add Odisha Tourism's twitter handle to it.

2) People(locals) need to change their approach. How can it be possible when they dont have any idea about tourism potential and of course they dont get a chance to read these things written in facebook or twitter?
But it can be done by the Hotel industries. Those who won small hotel, lodges, they can start educating their employess as to how to behave to a tourist and also they need to start talking to local petty shop owner on the points related to tourism. I am not telling that they need to preach. But just in a Odia Khatti time, they can put the topic on tourism and tell the local shop owners about the benefit of it.


---What ODISHA TOURISM DEPARTMENT need to do?---

1) Create road connectivity among all tourist places in all districts of Odisha
2) Construct small range hotels and lodges in the area. Dont go for star hotels in the beginning as it may be a loss. There need to proper water and sanitation facilities in the area and obviously cleanliness
3) Change the look and feel of the tourist place so that people will be attracted (as they have done at Lalitagiri/Udayagiri/Ratnagiri).

4) Govt has just started JAJABARA rest areas. It gradually need be implemened throughout Odisha
5) Create multiple tourism circuits based on the types or places
   a) Pilgrimage circuit based on Hindu monuments: Puri Jagannath, Sambalpur Samalei, Kendrapada Baladeba Jiu, Ghatagaan Tarini, Balangir Rangei Deula, Hirapur Chausathi Jogini and Ranipur-Jharial Chausathi Jogini  etc
   b) Pilgrimage circuit based on Jain monuments: Bhubaneswar Khandagiri/Udayagiri, and other Jain temples in Western districts.

Tourism dept need to search and develop these places
   c) Pilgrimage circuit based on Buddhist monuments: Jajpur Langudi/Lalitagiri/Udayagiri/Ratngiri, Maniabandha Buddhist village etc
   d) Waterfall circuit: Harishankar, Devkund, Ghagara, Khandadhar etc . The list will be endless
   e) Beach circuit: Chandipur, Puri, Gopalpur etc
   f) Art and Craft circuit: Raghurajpur Pattachitra, Pipili Chandua, Sambalpur Saree, Berhampur Saree etc
   g) Based on area: If someone want to travel only Western dists, then plan for temples, waterfalls, handloom in that area. If only southern dists, plan for the same in that area like beach, waterfall, hadicraft etc
6) Continue the advertisement in internet, TV media and never stop the advertisement because advertisement is just like the engine of an aeroplane. After the flight takes off, the engine should still continue running.
7) Advertise in big hoardings in important cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela, Berhampur, Balasore etc
8) Last but not the least: Maintain high security in tourist places

Deokund Waterfall-Lake - Mayurbhanj - Odisha

                  Devkund (Debakunda / Deokund) (means "The bathtub of Gods and Goddesses") is a nice scenic spot in the district of Mayurbhanj, Odisha.
It is found at a distance of 60 km from Baripada and 85 km from Balasore in Odisha state.
This place is an important tourist attraction because of its waterfalls and natural beauty.

Satkosia gorge and nature camp

Some details about Satkosia from the Govt website: The Satkosia Gorge along the river Mahanadi, passes through Angul, Boudh, Cuttack and Nayagarh districts in central Orissa and is the natural habitat for the two endangered fresh water crocodilian species, the Gharial (Gavialis gangeticus) and Mugger (Crocodylus palustris). In order to protect the dwindling crocodile population, the Forest Department of the Government of Orissa with technical support from the UNDP and FAO decided to start a breeding programme of crocodiles during March 1974. As a part of this joint conservation initiative, the Gharial Research and Conservation Unit (GRACU) was started during March 1975. The GRACU had done pioneering work in crocodile conservation in India. The activities include Conservation Breeding; releasing of reared crocodiles into the wild and its rehabilitation had been some of the challenging activities carried out by the centre. Thereafter in 1976 due to the immense biodiversity values, the dense forest lands on both sides of the river Mahanadi along the gorge was declared as the Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary. Subsequently the two adjoining sanctuaries namely the Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary and Baisipalli sanctuary were combinly and declared as Satkosia Tiger Reserve during December, 2007. Core area of the Tiger Reserve lies within Satkosia Gorge Sanctuary. The reserve is spread over 4 districts; Angul, Cuttack, Nayagarh and Boudh. The tiger reserve has an area of 964 sq km with 524 sq km as core area.
And we planned for a travel to Satkosia and to stay in the camp. So we 1st checked the Odisha govt website for Satkosia.

The 2nd address tells about the Angul district wildlife division office. We called their contact number and they told about the details of the place and how much cost per person. It was Rs1000 per person and one tent to be shared by two.
Then we took a screenprint of the map and started from Bhubaneswar to Angul.



It took around 3hrs. In Angul wildlife divisional office, we took the permission and booked the tent for the nature camp. Then we started towards the camp. It took 30mins to reach the spot.

BUT NO PIC of TIGER as it is getting extincted day by day. A time may come when no animal will be there and human-being will need to convert itself to animal to maintain the ecosystem .
Finally we started back to Bhubaneswar the next day after taking the last pic.
